Ray L. Rivera-Brignoni Email and Phone Number
As a Mechanical Engineering student and professional, my goals are to support community infrastructure and improve quality of life including, but not limited to, researching improvements to transportation means, applications of renewable energy, and ecosystem management and care. During my career development, I have been exposed to topics such as, automotive engineering, manufacturing, CAD, thermal systems, structure design, renewable energy applications, transportation solutions, computational fluid dynamics applications and, materials engineering. One of my biggest experiences in the industry was my internshp with Allison Transmission. Here, I had the opportunity to work closer to a major propulsion systems solutions company and grasp what opportunities the industry had to offer. Also, I am currently working for the Departamento de Agricultura del Gobierno de Puerto Rico as a consulting engineer. My time here is invested in analyzing and designing an end-of-life plan for photovoltaic systems implemented in Puerto Rico. In particular, to attend to the agrovoltaic system initiative that is ongoing exploration. Each one of these topics and experiences have motivated my career development into finding opportunities and improvements for the sustainability of communities. At the same time, I wish to contribute to the scientific and engineering community with the purpose of advancing the improvement of way of life for persons in need.

Sustainable Engineering/Researcher - AgroenergiaprUniversity Of Puerto Rico-Utuado Jan 2024 - Jun 2024Mayaguez, Puerto RicoThe project is a government funded program with the goal of identifying and establishing an end-of-life action plan for solar equipment systems throughout Puerto Rico; particularly, those established in an agro-voltaic system. UPR Mayaguez alongside the Departamento de Agricultura de Puerto Rico, UPR Utuado and UPR Rio Piedras, is on the path of designing a sustainable End-of-Life plan development for current and future agro-voltaic systems.• Familiarized with 3 main types of agro-voltaic systems and the 5 C’s of agro-voltaic factors for success. • Developing LCA simulation for evaluation on 2 agro-voltaic systems implemented in Coamo and Manati. • Evaluated over 10 laws of the public policy regarding solar equipment in Puerto Rico to provide direct consultation for further improvement of the regulations referencing available UL and IEEE standards -
Shrimp And Fish Laboratory VolunteerUniversity Of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Nov 2023 - May 2024San Juan, Puerto Rico• Shrimp Census: Identifying and assessing quantities of over 6 species of shrimp to determine the conditions of a stream ecosystems and how the shrimp’s population is affected by natural disasters. • The effects of pesticides on freshwater Snail (Neritidae) research: collect and perform experimentational rounds by exposing neritidae to glyphosate and examining their behavior to identify any change in locomotion. -
Off-Highway Service EngineerAllison Transmission May 2023 - Jul 2023Indianapolis, Indiana, United StatesAs an Allison Transmission intern, I got my first experience working as an engineer. Here, I developed my skills in owner's manuals revision and design, troubleshooting code interpretation, tear-down and re-assembly of transmissions, instructions writing, and customer service. - Direct contact and troubleshooting support of 8 downed transmission units in the field. Applied CRM knowledge to manage over 10 cases successfully. • Analyzed 70 warranty claims of 9K series transmissions that failed in the field by going through failure analysis and summarized the data.• Revised over 100 diagnostic troubleshooting codes of the eGEN Flex unit from the diagnostic database and designed clear directions for the steps to follow in manuals. • Went through teardown and re-assembly of transmissions to validate removal/replace/install of 50% of service parts. Revised and improved 3 owner’s manuals. -
Logistics And Powertrain MemberRum Racing Baja Aug 2022 - May 2023Mayaguez, Puerto RicoThe RUM Racing Baja project consists of undergraduate engineering students designing a mini BAJA vehicle/ This vehicle competes annual SAE Baja competitions all over the United States. While being a part of the team, I was in 2 divisions: Logistics and Powertrain.Powertrain:• Analyzed and implemented powertrain system by adapting and re-purposing spare parts to integrate into our vehicle. Performed dynamic analysis and simulated through mathematical models the vehicle’s driveline to with 20 or more variables to our desired specs. • Supported chassis, suspension, and braking system building.Logistics:• In charge of team representation, sponsorship scouting, team organizing and fundraising for our project. Combined efforts from all team members to establish monthly plans of fundraising opportunities and advertising of the vehicle. • Created plans to locate sponsors and involve them in our vision for the vehicle -
