Ray previously served as Major Projects Director in HM Treasury’s Office of Government Commerce and the Cabinet Office, Programme Director for the nationwide NHS ‘Choose and Book’ service, and CEO and Accounting Officer of the Northern Ireland Business Development Service. A Past-President (2016-17) of the British Computer Society (the UK’s Chartered Institute for IT), Past-Master (2019-20) of the Information Technologists’ City of London Livery Company, graduate of the Government’s Major Projects Leadership Academy, Cabinet Office High-Risk Review Team Leader, Civil Service Fast-Stream Assessor and Council Member of Gresham College (London’s oldest Higher Education Institution), Ray now runs his own company, Ray Long Consulting Limited, and enjoys a portfolio career based around short-term consultancy, non-executive, teaching and voluntary work.
