Resource & Logistics Manager
CurrentOperations Manager
My appointment as Operations Manger was to overlook a contract from start to finish. To contact suppliers of plant and equipment and to make sure that they would be delivered to site on time. I would order the welding consumables from our supplier I was to organise the labour for site ( Welders , Fitters, Riggers etc ) To make sure everyone had the correct qualifications for their particular trade. Before anyone went on site I would make sure that they had the correct PPE. Check that welders before going on site where tested out to the right specification. If necessary I would organise to get them tested and I would oversea the procedure. All the welders were given an ID number and then put on our system by me with there qualifications ( Hard and Soft copies ) I was to contact our NDT Contractor and arrange a date and time to visit site When the welding was finished I would complete a weld pack of all welds and graphs for our client . I would organise for all plant and equipment to be transported from site , I would make a report as to weather the job went to plan and if there is any way we can improve on it.
Welding Co-Ordinator
My first priority was to check that all welders coming on site had the correct qualifications and currently coded. All weld the welders coding's would be put on the system and I would give them and identification number. This was to be marked up on the welds that they have completed on each dayI would check each day with the Piping Supervisors to find out were the welders would be working and what they were welding.I would check the isometric drawing which would inform me on what material and pipe size they would be working on.The ISO number would be marked up on the pipe for traceability.I would give them a welding procedure for what they would be doing on that day.All the welding consumables where to be signed out from our stores by each welder.I would check this on a daily basis. On completion of the drawing I would check to make sure everything was marked correctly and all welds registered on our system. I would mark up all welds for x-ray and speak with our NDT Contractor to arrange a time and date for the work to be carried out.All the results would be put on the system for future reference , also a paper copy which was put in a folder for each particular job.I was covering the Turbine, ACC Unit and the Straw Barn pipework.Upon completion I would make a Weld Pack up for the Client . This would have all the welds completed and x-ray results with the graphs. Also all certification for the consumables .I also use to monitor the welding consumables and PPE. I would speak with our Buyer to order anything we required.I wold also check the welding machines and accessories for wear and tear.
Contracts Manger ( Engineering )
My roll was to supply skilled engineering labour, contract or permanent. I was to generate new business by calling prospective clients and arrange visits to sit in front of them and discuss how we can help them with their labour requirements.Having being in engineering for over 35 years it was a great advantage when speaking with clients about their needs.I would negotiate charge rates and terms of business with them.I would also make sure that everyone we put forward had the correct qualifications for their particular trade and aware of health and safety regulations. Also they had to complete a health questionnaire.I would also make them aware of disciplinary and termination procedures I would visit our clients or call them on a regular basis to make sure everything was fine and if they required any more labour.
Welder
I was employed as a Coded MMA & Flux Core Welder on these contracts.I was previously employed by them as a Pipe welder using TIG and MMA.I have worked for Doosan since 1974 under their previous guises of Babcock and Wilcox, Babcock Mitsui and Doosan Babcock. This was a broken service as I was made redundant on some contracts and i went and worked for Alstom , TEI and Thermal Energy Construction on Power Stations.I also went working overseas doing marine ship repair for Alborg Industries from Denmark as a pipe welder.
Branch Manager
I started my employment as a Contracts manager and then I was promoted in April 2005 to Branch Manager.
