Working at the SSTC section on HMS Excellent and Horsea Island as a Sea Survival Instructor SME forBabcock Int, it provided me with a great opportunity to discover the world of the MOD. As they came throughtheir BSSC, ISSC, 35’s courses and even through the DRIU and MES Sweepers courses, I was able to assist inthe completion of their training in different ways. My main responsibilities were to effectively communicatea powerpoint presentation of the subject matter, followed by a controlled practical phase of their trainingpost the theory lesson in the morning, carrying out maintenance on all the equipment that would be dailyused by the students, repair or replace any damaged equipment, keeping logs of everything that was in use.Deliver safety briefs and carry out first aid when needed and also act as a safety swimmer within the lakeduring the practical drills.

Being a purchasing administrator for Novatech was a huge learning experience, bringing me up to date withMicrosoft office, word processing, spreadsheets and data analysis. Communicating with suppliers, directors,managers, warehouse staff, couriers and sales teams I would be the middleman between all of these types ofpeople to establish effective delivery times of the products ordered by the companies purchasing team.While administering all the stock coming in to the company I would deal with all and every discrepancyfound with any of the goods coming in. Alongside this I would be presenting spreadsheets to the directors ofthe company to summarise the current success of the purchasing team.
