Chief Engineer - Software Center Of Excellence (2016 - Present) - As the Chief Engineer of the Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Software Center of Excellence, I am leading the development of enterprise development environments, processes, procedures, and training material for transforming organizations and teams for high performing software engineering. I teach courses and provide mentoring to the technical staff in software engineering, DevOps, Scaled Agile Framework, and secure coding practices.Principal Investigator (2009 – 2015). Responsible for leading Agile teams of engineers researching areas related to geospatial intelligence, such as innovative human-computer interfaces, mobile and pervasive computing, big data, cloud computing, human geography, social network analysis, and persistent surveillance using open standards and open source software with Java, C#, JavaScript and other languages. Principal Investigator (2005 – 2008). I was responsible for leading a team of engineers for an IRAD investigating network centric warfare and situational awareness using services-based software architecture and secure wireless communications. I was the primary contact for providing demonstrations to potential and current customers. The IRAD was a COTS intensive system integration with development in Java, C#, and Visual Basic. I was one of the principal members of the team that spearheaded Northrop Grumman IT, TASC for its successful CMMI Level 5 certification. As a member of the CMMI process improvement team, I taught multiple classes in software processes, such as Software Architecture, Software Design, Product Development, Peer Review, and CMMI Overview.Geospatial Lead Engineer for the Distributed Common Ground Station – Army (DCGS-A) program (2006 – 2009), a large software and systems development program. The DCGS-A program integrated multiple battlefield intel systems into one integrated system. As the technical lead for the geospatial team, I was responsible for overseeing 25+ system engineers, software developers, integrators, and testers. I was in charge of scheduling, estimating, software development standards, requirements analysis and design of the overall software system for a program of over $15M/year.Chief Engineer for the Combat Terrain Information Systems (CTIS) Program (1998 - 2004) The CTIS program developed 6 different combat ready GIS systems for the US Army. As the Chief Engineer, I was responsible for overseeing 20+ software developers, integrators and testers. My responsibilities included scheduling, estimating, software development standards, requirements analysis and design of the overall software system for a program of $10M+/year. I was the main customer interface for the software development tasks. The software development included Unix and Windows, C++, Visual Basic, JavaScript, HTML and other languages.
