Conceived the "Hydroplaning Floatwing" configuration of an amphibious IMO class C seaplane.Designed the "SeaStryder" amphibious aircraft utilizing our patented Hydroplaning Floatwing technology (HFT); an aircraft, seaplane & ground-effect vehicle, in one revolutionary design.Co-developing an all-electric version of the SeaStryder
  • University Of Toronto - Scarborough College Campus
    Manager Of Engineering Services
University Of Toronto - Scarborough College Campus Sep 1990 - Aug 1996
    Scarborough, Ontario
Managed a group of technologists and machinists, to design, develop and construct various research-related instrumentation and mechanical mechanisms for all research departments of the Scarborough College campus.Participated in field trials of sonar-based equipment which I extensively modified to provide a greatly improved signal-to-noise ratio for determining seabed geometry in the presence of dense suspensions of seabed sediments generated under strong wave action in the nearshore zone. This work resulted in the production of several research papers by the principle investigator of the coastal engineering group, one of which I co-authored and another I authored concerning the sonar system.
  • National Research Council Canada / Conseil National De Recherches Canada
Wind Energy Group And Hydraulics Lab Research Technology Support Staff
National Research Council Canada / Conseil National De Recherches Canada Aug 1984 - Aug 1990
    Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Provided technological support for the Wind Energy Group through evaluation and designation of potential wind turbine sites in Canada where favorable wind regimes existed to demonstrate the use of wind energy equipment designed and developed in Canada. This included turbines from 10 KW to 4 MW capacity.Developed software subroutines using the internal GEDAP operating system of the Hydraulics Laboratory to analyze scale model data obtained from various coastal, basin and model ship dynamics. This included flood and ebb tidal dynamics as well as mooring line and bumper dynamics for tethered ships. Designed a sonar system to measure mass concentrations of suspended sediments generated by wave action in the nearshore zone over sand bedforms and a calibration tank to verify the accuracy of these measurements. Several laboratory reports and a paper were generated on this equipment.
  • Institute Of Man & Resources
Operations Manager Of The Atlantic Wind Test Site (North Cape Prince Edward Island)
Institute Of Man & Resources Sep 1980 - Aug 1984
    Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada
Managed a group of 6 people responsible for the installation, instrumentation, data collection and maintenance of wind turbines located at 16 test pads on the approximately100 acre grounds of the laboratory facility, located at the north west tip of PEI. During my tenure, I produced several research papers based on the data collection results of our test program which involved national and international wind turbines located on the test pads exposed to all types of weather over periods of several years. I was also the chair person for the CSA subcommittee to develop standard wind turbine test procedures in the Canadian context. In May, 1983, I represented Canada at the annual International Meeting of Wind Turbine Test Stations held in Denmark and in that same month participated with the GKSS research institute in Germany to undertake a test program using one of their turbines located on Pellworm Island in the North Sea.
