Manage all operational, safety, and environmental aspects of the 260,000 BPD Alliance Refinery. Responsibilities include refinery optimization, budgeting, cost control, turnaround scope development, operator training and development, environmental and safety excellence, long range plan development, mentoring of supervision, union relations, and compliance with government regulations. Assume the duties of refinery manager when the refinery manager is unavailable.

Responsibilities included managing the refinery technical department consisting of Process Engineering, Project Engineering, Planning and Economics, Finance, Laboratory, Energy Coordinator, and Major Capital Projects (<$75MM). Also responsible for Long Range Plan and capital budget development, daily and monthly refinery operating plans, engineer training, and PHA execution

Responsibilities included all operational, safety, and environmental aspects for the two FCC's, HF alkylation, SZorb gasoline desulphurization, steam system, fuel gas system, and the treated water system. Supervisory functions encompassed supervising hourly operators, shift team leaders, and unit supervisors, operating budget development, cost control, turnaround management, and ensuring compliance with government regulations.

Performed short term economics and planning functions. Utilized linear and nonlinear programming methods to develop and update refinery operating plans based on raw materials, product demand, and operational capability. Responsible for planning, tracking, and optimizing the economics of refinery operations. Developed the refinery operating budget and barrel plans. Supervisory functions encompassed supervising short term planning, budget development, pipeline scheduling, blending, and loss control

Performed tech service functions relating to day to day process and project problem solving. Process engineering functions encompassed monitoring unit performance, optimizing unit efficiency, originating operating procedures, and troubleshooting unit problems. Project engineering functions encompassed conceiving, justifying, designing, and implementing refinery projects for improving process efficiency, increasing product recovery, and complying with government regulations. Unit assignments included crude, vacuum, saturates gas plant, diesel hydrotreater, catalytic reformer, aromatics extraction, and thermal hydrodealkylation. Supervisory functions encompassed supervising the tech service and project engineers, developing work scopes for each processing area, and budgeting.
