Work history:Jodrell Bank Radio Observatory Science CentrePlanetarium Controller/Exhibitions Organiser/Public Relations Speaking1979 – 1992• Arranging and conducting guided tours around centre, research building & telescopes. • Producing & presenting Planetarium shows.• Responsible for exhibition/exhibits & travelling exhibitions.• Monthly Jodrell Bank newsletter.• Helped with Halley’s comet charter flights from Manchester for fare paying passengers.• Visited the European Space Agency Headquarters in Paris on numerous occasions to negotiate exhibition material and audio/visual for planetarium shows.• Regularly visited British Aerospace Bristol & other space manufacturers for exhibition hardware & audio/visual material.• From my own office in the Science Centre, I organised shows, exhibitions, lectures, PR events, important visitors and media press information.• I formed friendships with numerous people in the USA, Europe and the wider world and in 1986 invited two astronomers from Westerbork & Dwingeloo radio telescopes (Dirk Hoogenraad & Albert Weishaupt). Over the next two years we were in close contact as they planned a brand-new science centre in Dwingeloo which was to be called the “Planetron”. I was invited over to represent Jodrell Bank to take part in the opening ceremony of this incredibly impressive visitor centre.• I have been a volunteer since 1972 at Keele Observatory, member of 'Keele Alumni' LinkedIn & also a volunteer at north staffs branch of the RSPCA for 30 years. I also volunteer at Middleport Pottery.• I have given lectures to organisations, the furthest being in Valetta.Written articles on Astronomy, Cosmology and Spaceflight for magazines in the UK and USA.Other work includes quality assurance management, sales, accounts, stores supervision.Currently: Architectural Buyer.
