Retired at the end of 2020 after 40+ years in the energy industry, the last 24+ with Mustang Engineering and Wood Group. Still interested and following industry developments as we as a society work our way through the transition to a more renewable and sustainable energy, chemical and petrochemical future.

Process Lead for for a variety of refining and alternative energy projects, covering all phases of the engineering life cycle - feasibility studies, process packages, FEED, detailed engineering, operations troubleshooting, etc.Excellent understanding of general refinery units and operations, with special emphasis in hydrotreating, alkylation, FCC, gas plants, sulfur complex, and solvent deasphalting. Expertise in alternative fuels manufacture and processing from varied feedstocks such as municipal waste, biomass, fats and oils. This includes both Fischer-Tropsch synthesis following syngas preparation by gasification or pyrolysis, and renewable diesel and jet fuel manufacture via hydroprocessing and isomerization.In addition, excellent understanding of the importance of utilities, offsites and interconnects in the successful implementation of processing technology.

After Raytheon purchased Litwin E&C, continued to work on refining projects, including leading a major expansion of the HOVIC (St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands) FCC complex from 110,000 BPSD to 135,000 BPSD.

Process engineering for primarily refining projects. Special emphasis on sulfuric acid alkylation. Also designed aromatics extraction (Sulfolane), sulfuric acid manufacture, fluid catalytic cracking, refrigerated LPG storage, solvent deasphalting. Worked on major integration of utilities, offsites and interconnects for a billion dollar plus major refinery expansion. Spent time in the field for unit process hazard analysis, unit checkout, operator training, start-up assistance, etc.

Process engineering for a range of refining, chemical, sulfur and environmental projects. Special emphasis on solvent deasphalting, especially with the ROSE (TM) process - at that time licensed by Kerr-McGee, now licensed by KBR. Also experience with hydrotreating, cumene, oxo processing, silane manufacturing, THF drying, gas treating with amines, sulfur recovery, tail gas treating, sour water stripping, flue gas desulfurization, power plant FGD sludge oxidation to gypsum, etc.

Process engineering, primarily in the partial oxidation group, supporting gasification proposals and projects using proprietary Texaco technology licensed by Texaco Development Corporation.
