Predictive Model Construction for Capturing Fraudulent and Money Laundering Transactions - Cleaned up data from primary and secondary sources, and solved the problem of imbalanced data using different subsampling methods including normalization, down sampling and rose subsampling. - Assisted Senior Data Analyst in building a random forest model using R to predict the probability of illegal activities based on economic and demographic data. The final model has an ROC_AUC of 98% and an accuracy of 92%. - Drafted a report to the senior management regarding patterns of fraudulent activities and corresponding actions. The senior management then decided to set extra limitations to transactions based on certain factors e.g., trading timing, a small initial transaction, high-frequency and repeated transactions, geographic irregularities etc.
