West Area Office, formerly the Southwest Area Office Construction Engineer for the Area Office • Previously responsible for overseeing the management of 10 projects approximately valued at $300 million. Including SH 161 from SH 183 to just north of IH 30. • Completed 8 projects for the SWAO valued at approximately $69 million.• Reviewed plans prior to letting to insure constructability, safety and conformance with Department standards.• Conducted project meetings with various parties, including contractors, city governments, to provide for the needs of the project and to keep open lines of communication.• Reviewed project submittals, including shop drawings for conformance with the plans, contractor schedules to insure timely completion of project. • Answered public requests for information.• Manage approximately 25 employees including contract administration, laboratory professionals, survey, and construction inspectors in their project duties.• Management duties included insuring adequate staffing of projects, production of performance plans, training of employees in Department standards.• Over saw the construction management records including, SW3P inspection reports, barricade inspection reports, project diaries, generating pay estimates.• Coordinated with utility companies insure adjustments to their respective facilities were not in conflict with office construction projects.• Initiated change orders in order to conform to the changing requirements of the projecto Personally designed new plan sheets and have overseen consultants in creating new plan sheets.o Negotiated multiple change orders to keep the projects on budget.• Handled claims, including a claim for extra work and delay totaling a $1.3 million that was resolved for $400,000 through detailed review of contractor and Department documentation.

Inspected bridge and roadway construction on projects assigned, including drilled shafts, columns, caps, setting beams, excavation, embankment storm drain, and pavement.• Oversaw the construction of four different contracts valued at approximately $69 million.• Administered material testing for projects.• Insured faculties constructed were properly constructed and produced accurate documentation to insure prompt payment to the contractor.• Oversaw duties of up to six technicians (varied depending on work load) in their construction inspection duties. • Initiated change orders and redesigned traffic control plans, drainage plans, roadway plans, to accommodate field conditions when conflict arose with the plans.

• Assisted in the design of the elevated portion of US 287 in Wichita Falls. Design duties primarily focused on general roadway design (including TCP design, bridge geometry, pavement analysis, roadway design, horizontal and vertical controls, detail sheets, sequence of construction, and striping layouts).• Produced all of the earthwork and cross section data for elevated US 287 project. Performed field data collection with the survey party to provide the designers with an accurate depiction of onsite conditions.• Assisted in Engineer in various public meetings and design meetings in the production of exhibits and agendas to allow for successful meetings.• Reviewed plan sheets from other designers to insure accuracy and conformance with Department standards.
