I am Raymond Miles, a dedicated advocate, entrepreneur, and leader committed to addressing the psychosocial and socioeconomic consequences of mass incarceration. As the Workforce Development Coordinator at the Allegheny County Jail, I lead pre- and post-release services, including counseling, skill-building workshops, and job clubs. These initiatives help individuals prepare for employment and education while fostering self-worth and empowerment. I focus on dismantling policies that disproportionately exclude justice-impacted individuals from opportunity.My entrepreneurial journey began in 2011 with the launch of Limitless Landscapes, a lawn care and property preservation business. Starting with residential clients, I expanded the business to secure major contracts with the City of Pittsburgh and other commercial clients. Limitless Landscapes emphasizes personal, detail-oriented service and community empowerment, reflecting my dedication to economic revitalization. In 2019, I founded Work412, which provides lead abatement, property preservation, and lawn maintenance services under contracts with the Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County.Earlier in my career, I worked with Pittsburgh Mercy Health System, facilitating over 350 cognitive behavioral therapy groups and authoring 1440, an emergency resource guide for the forensic population and service providers in Allegheny County. These experiences solidified my commitment to mental health advocacy and justice reform.I earned a cum laude Bachelor of Social Work from Carlow University's School of Leadership & Social Change. My academic journey, from high school dropout to college graduate, reflects my resilience and passion for transformation. It was during this time that I discovered workforce development as a critical tool for reducing recidivism and creating stability for justice-impacted individuals.Beyond my professional roles, I have launched community initiatives like ReEntry412, Reentry T.V., and the Formerly Convicted Citizens Leadership Development Group, which work to shift public perceptions and increase community support for reintegration. My efforts have earned recognition, including the John G. Rangos Prize for Community-Based Research & Development and a City of Pittsburgh Commendation from Mayor William Peduto.Through advocacy, entrepreneurship, and community engagement, I aim to break down barriers, unlock potential, and create a more equitable society.
