Advocated on behalf of low-wage workers in all phases of litigation including, but not limited to, client interviews, case development, damages calculations, complaint drafting, and mediation. Delivered instructional presentations on substantive legal issues in the field. Participated in mock pre-trial conferences and depositions.

Researched elements of discriminatory steering violations under the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs. Participated in discovery related to wage and overtime claims among low-wage service industry workers. Shadowed the administrative deposition of an employer accused of overtime violations.

Contributed to reports and talking points interrogating the economic incentives and inefficiencies of mass incarceration. Probed issues relating to municipal court funding, criminal justice debt, and the effects of prison building on rural communities.

Investigated discrimination complaints in housing, employment, and public accommodations. Performed legal research on both evolving and well-settled areas of law, drafted internal memos and complaints, and observed intake interviews. Conducted pre-complaint interventions in housing accommodations cases to improve client interaction skills. Attended weekly CLE and practice-specific trainings.

Wrote at least one legal brief per month under the supervision of an Assistant District Attorney editor. Performed administrative tasks including, but not limited to, proofreading and cite-checking legal briefs; researching, writing, filing, and serving motion papers; and running errands at the Criminal and Supreme Courts. Worked closely with the Director of Civil Litigation to track, investigate, respond to, and maintain an evolving database of civil cases (including state-level habeas corpus proceedings and proceedings against judicial bodies and officers).

Supported the Publications Manager on tasks relating to the American Journal of International Law and its accompanying blog, AJIL Unbound, through editing blog posts, analyzing web traffic, keeping detailed records of books received for review, and performing various administrative tasks around the office.
