Dr. Rayan Alshamrani is an Assistant Professor of Information Technology at Taif University, Saudi Arabia. He is a certified data scientist by University of Idaho's Graduate Certificate in Data Science.Dr. Alshamrani’s research interests include clinical decision support systems (CDSS), health information technology, data science, machine learning, knowledge graph, semantic web, ontology engineering, health informatics, and predictive analytics in healthcare. He has published several papers in international journals and conferences in these areas.Dr. Alshamrani received his Ph.D. degree in computer science from University of Idaho, Moscow, ID United States in 2023. He received his M.S. degree in information systems from Marshall University, Huntington, WV United States in 2013. He received his B.S. degree in information systems from Taif University, Saudi Arabia in 2009.He was an intern at the College of Engineering at University of Idaho as an Enrollment Analyst. He also worked as a Technology Solution Partner at the Office of Information Technology (OIT) at University of Idaho.Dr. Alshamrani received several recognitions through his academic and research journey, including College of Engineering newsletter recognition for a data access grant he received to help healthcare providers make better decisions about Multiple Sclerosis (MS) care and treatment, Department of Computer Science newsletter recognition for his publication in Patterns Journal, and Best Poster Award recipient at the 2019 University of Idaho Computer Science Industrial Advisory Board Meeting.In addition to his academic duties at Taif University, Dr. Alshamrani is working as a Counselor of Professional Development and Career Support at the Deanship of Student Affairs. He is an active member in several committees within the College of Computers and Information Technology including Student Activities, Cybersecurity Programs Accreditation, College Website Development, Examinations, and Scheduling Committees. He also worked as a special employee trainer at Taif University's Office of Vice President for Academic Affairs and Development. Moreover, Dr. Alshamrani presents many workshops in several areas such as professional development, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science. He also works as a mentor in several hackathons, an academic advisor for students participating in the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity, and a scientific trainer for Mawhiba Academic Enrichment Program.
