As Executive Chair of Bango, Ray is responsible for Strategic relationships with NHN, Softbank and other leaders sharing the Bango Vision. Ray also serves on the board of Bango/NHN joint venture Newdeep (Parent of Audiens).Ray is also involved in strategic activities to enable merchants to grow faster by leveraging the Bango data pool using AI and other Data Science. (See www.bango.ai)Ray co-founded Bango in 1999 after realising that the convergence of internet connectivity with the ubiquity and new functionality provided by internet connected mobile devices could open up huge opportunities for content and service providers. Ray served as CEO from 2000 to 2020.Formerly at IXI Limited (GUI company), Ray established the industry standard networked GUI - X.desktop. IXI was one of the founders companies of the world-wide-web. IXI sponsored the first WWW conference at CERN and shipped the world's first commercial web browser. In 1993 IXI merged with SCO and then floated on NASDAQ, reaching a peak valuation of $1.77Bn. Sun Microsystems acquired SCO in 2005.Ray held senior (NASDAQ 16B) leadership roles in SCO, including General Manager, SrVP of New Ventures and SrVP Marketing. Ray played a key role in driving a repositioning of SCO from providing small business Unix (Xenix) to becoming the industry standard for Intel Unix. (UnixWare)Before IXI Ray was a co-founder of Torch Computers, and sold the Torch GUI to Steve Jobs as he was starting Next, having just been fired from Apple. Ray also worked for Acorn Computers, The General Electric Company and Sinclair Research.Ray is an entrepreneur and innovator. Ray was a founding investor in a variety of growing companies including TeamStudio, Tenison Technology, ESI / E*Trade UK (Sold to E*Trade), Aspective (sold to IBM), Trigenix (sold to Qualcomm), Brooks Fiber (Sold to Worldcom), Texperts (sold to 118118), Grapeshot (sold to Oracle), Cambridge Privacy Sciences and other technology businesses. Ray was awarded a 1st Class Degree in Computer Science from Cambridge University. Ray also studied Natural sciences. (Physics/Maths) Ray is a keen instrument pilot, and a governor of Stephen Perse Foundation - educating young people in the local community and through its global digital outreach.Ray fights against gender stereotyping and identity based politics.Specialties: Starting and growing businesses that come to dominate their sector.
