I am currently Head of the Department for Drama and the Induction Coordinator for the early career teachers within my Academy. This year I have also taken on the role of Faculty Lead to support other members of staff with their curriculum and lesson planning. I have recently completed a National Professional Qualification in Leading Teacher Development with the Ambition Institute which has developed my skills within Teacher Education. Drama is not in the National Curriculum therefore I have had to be creative and hardworking to develop, plan and deliver my own curriculum for years 7-11 to achieve the best outcomes for students. Working through the pandemic encouraged me to be more open-minded about curriculum planning and delivery, remote education and has encouraged me to be more flexible within my role. To further my impact, I now also oversee the development of the Music Department by quality assuring the curriculum and lesson planning within the department to ensure a consistent approach with the Academy policies and the National Curriculum.As Induction Coordinator for the early career teachers, I lead the planning, delivery, and the evaluation of the programme that the early career teachers follow. I monitor and supervise the early career teachers’ individual progress and intervene with additional support and coaching when required to ensure they make progress. I have been able to communicate excellently and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, students, and parents. Working within the fast-paced and busy environment of a school day means it is imperative that I am well-organised to keep up with my varied workload. Working within an environment as ever-changing as a school, I have been able to develop my problem-solving skills and resilience. I am ambitious and enjoy new challenges and professional development opportunities.
