I am a member of the Lummi Nation. I have worked at the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) since the Portland (Oregon) Regional office opened in May 1999. In addition to (25)+ years of Indian Gaming experience, I have dedicated most of my life working in Indian Country. I enjoyed serving as a Police Officer, providing community policing on my reservation. In alignment with my passion for Indigenous rights, my formal education embodies the importance and respect of tribal culture, traditions, and history. I was the first graduate of the Bachelor of Arts Native Studies Leadership degree at the NWIC. I went on to obtain a Master of Jurisprudence in Indian Law degree from the University of Tulsa College of Law.Growing up, I witnessed my parents be active leaders of the Lummi Community, both having served on the Lummi Tribal Council. I am indebted and respect the magnitude of their efforts, the impact they and other traditional leaders have had in protecting Lummi culture and tribal sovereignty. My teachings, formal education, and work experience motivates me to participate and contribute to my Tribe. I have served as the Vice-Chairman and Chairman of the Lummi Law & Justice Commission from June 2014 – August 2016. I am currently serving as the Vice-Chairman of the Lummi Commercial Company Board of Directors (May 2018 – current), Secretary of the Children of the Setting Sun Production Board of Directors, a member of the Northwest Indian College Board of Trustees and White Swan Environmental Board of Directors.Experienced Compliance Officer with a demonstrated history of working in Indian Country. Skilled in Government, Team Building, Leadership, Fraud Investigations, Training, policy development, and Internal Investigations. Strong legal professional with a Master of Jurisprudence focused in Indian Law from the University of Tulsa College of Law.
