Mis Superintendent Mine Technology
• Execute and planned large scale projects for the Mine Technology Group.• Develop maintenance plans for the mesh network.• Collaborate with senior management on technical needs and future requirements• Verify team production is meeting expectation and evaluate if outsourcing is required to meet goals• Lead Mine Technology Group in the installation of infrastructure of the mesh network and for the installation of hardware on a fleet of over 250 pieces of heavy equipment.• Evaluate budgeting plans for the Mine Technology Group.• Direct the work of 26 members of the Mine Technology Group. As a superintendent, working with the Mine Technology Group (MTG), I work with a group of technicians and professionals delivering communications from heavy equipment to various databases. Our mesh network infrastructure also communicates slope stability data from the slope instruments to the monitoring computers to maintain the safety of the personnel working in the mine. We provide 24-7 service with two crews consisting of 11 technicians on each crew. Working together we deliver; Dispatch, driver safety systems, tire pressure monitoring, GPS, two-way radio, and maintain system analysis for various departments. A major accomplishment that I have executed is the deployment of a new mesh network. As a leader of the MTG, I coordinated the efforts of the network team and the MTG technicians in establishing the foundation of the mesh network consisting of 65 fixed location access points and mobile units. After the infrastructure was built, we verified complete coverage of the mine through capturing connectivity. Then we installed the new mesh network on 143 haul trucks and 100 on other pieces of heavy equipment. Each install required three technicians averaging four hours per piece of equipment. We accomplished all the work with minimal delays, no lost time accidents, and one property damage.
Director Of Mis
Working as the Director of MIS at Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center (CVRMC) was both fun and challenging. The MIS team was very tight-knit. We built a strong team that enjoyed working with each other and we overcame many challenges. Maximizing the efforts of each team member was my focus and developing the team into a cohesive unit was the result of this focusOne of the accomplishments I look back on was the unifying of our old Electronic Medical Record system with the current medical record system. This was a long process. The initial transfer started three years prior to my arrival at CVRMC. Roughly one percent of the project was completed in the three-year time frame. I relaunched the project after my arrival and within 10 months and some tremendous battles the members of the team and I completed the unification of data.Another accomplishment was the completion of Promoting Interoperability three years in a row. Prior to my arrival, CVRMC had not completed the attestation process successfully. The last accomplishment, I will take the time to mention. is the moving of the network from the old part of the hospital to the new addition. Overseeing the installation of the data network, voice communications, nurse call, telemetry, and information boards was a huge project with many moving parts. The team members I worked with did an outstanding job and completed the project on time.
It Superintendent
During my time at KGHM, I was an IT Superintendent at two different mines. Starting at the Carlota Copper Company outside of Globe Arizona and then accepted the Superintendent position at Robinson Nevada Mining Company located outside Ely Nevada. Each location brought enjoyment to me as I worked through the unique challenges each mine presented. Carlota was a construction project and Robinson was an established mine. Developing the communication networks at Carlota was interesting as I brought the project from an idea to a functioning system. Coordinating the efforts of the IT team at Robinson to bring an established network to new vision of functionality was rewarding. An achievement at Carlota was the establishing network communications to a mountainous desert area where no communications, other than two-way radio, was possible. I still remember making the first phone call from the operations trailer to one of my coworkers. All I could say is, “it works.” That was exciting. Then adding computer networks in the buildings and watching other employees doing his or her job with network files was a great feeling of accomplishment. One achievement that I recall working at Robinson was the increase of the bandwidth by 75% for WAN connectivity. That project also included establishing point to point communications with the railroad and creating communication to and building a disaster recovery site.
