Since 2008, Path with Art has been at the forefront of a growing international movement that utilizes the power of art as a means to bring dignity, awareness, and healing to the complexities of the issues surrounding homelessness, and recovery from trauma.As a long-time leader in this field, the Path with Art model is currently being sought out and recognized by communities both nationally and internationally.Path with Art unites creative engagement with community connection to support people navigating trauma in re-imagining stronger, healthier, and purpose-driven lives and communities. They know the power of this work after 14 years of witnessing the impact on their participants and the community members that are touched by it.Path with Art believes that creative engagement is a fundamental need of the human spirit, not a luxury, which is why they provide access to creative engagement opportunities to those who have the least access and are the most vulnerable amongst us. All year round, they offer individual-based programming and community-engaged programming, utilizing the arts as a tool through which participants develop renewed confidence and stability, actively problem solve, redefine their own narratives, and meaningfully engage in greater community.As a Creative Mentor, I help Teaching Artists set up/break down classes, provide a supportive and welcoming presence, connect with and assist participants, take photographs, take attendance, and generally model good behavior.I have committed to volunteering for the entire duration of an 8-week class and hope to volunteer for following quarters and classes. I am currently a Creative Mentor for the Path with Art Singers.

As a Peer Mentor, in my position as a Vet Corps member, I serve veterans engaged in Path with Art’s programs and projects. The Washington Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) utilizes my knowledge, skills, and abilities as a veteran to make a positive difference in my community and improve the quality of life as a civilian for my fellow veterans in all stages of transition, ensuring increased access to state, federal, and local services. Holding this AmeriCorps national service position, I am familiar with services available to veterans in my region in order to connect the participating veteran artists with specific services and programs, within and outside of Path with Art, while at the same time helping to create and maintain a veteran community. Commanded $59M aircraft to maintain combat-ready aircrew during aerial refueling with US & allied bomber/fighter/mobility/intelligence/surveillance/reconnaissance aircraft. Instructed 3 member KC-135R/T crew to implement national strategy through homeland defense, medical evacuation, aircraft long-range movement, nuclear operations, & Presidential support missions.Squadron leadership/mentorship coach; guided professional development team to facilitate high-performance organizational growth. Counseled Field Grade Officers & flight leadership teams to build consensus; aligned sections & secured operations processes, ensured continuity & developed leaders.Oversaw & synthesized scheduling, training, readiness, & standards/evaluations of all members; directed 4,100-flying hour program worth $28M. Pilot Training began with Initial Flight Training (IFT) in Pueblo, CO, where civilian flight instructors provided ~25hrs of flight instruction in a DA-20 as an initial screening process. Following the successful completion of IFS, I attended JSUPT where I accomplished primary training in the T-6 Texan II followed by the T-1A Jayhawk.
