Served as part of packaging coatings division in developing coatings used in cans, plastic and paper packaging. Led development of portfolio and stage gate processes. Led major global program to develop new line of BPA free can coatings,. Responsible for determining new market opportunities in flexible packaging.Directed cross-functional team to get new chemicals approved by FDA for food contact – establishing in-house capability to apply directly to FDA. Led team to identify new market and set strategy in flexible packaging utilizing a “blue ocean” process to determine value proposition in new markets and develop new technology platforms. Reorganized stage gate and portfolio management system to position global portfolio and resources to hit key milestones for high-profile projects.

Led technical teams with over 25 members in Avon and Mentor, OH, LaGrange, GA, and Canada; member of the executive leadership team. Technical groups consisted of Packaging, R&D, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Consumer Relations and Technical Service. Team was responsible for over 200 unique formulations, with over 120 made in-house. Developed sustainability metrics for all formulations – established rating process to track company progress on improving sustainability. Evaluated and justified all green and sustainability claims, determined which formulas would qualify for “green” product lines. Developed and managed New Product Introduction Process (stage gate). Utilized portfolio management tools to organize and focus all key R&D efforts with Marketing and Sales. Four patent inventions disclosures filed, over 30 new products developed and launched
