He was previously executive vice president of CellNet Data Systems, a provider of smart grid technology for electrical utility industry. Ray also served as President and CEO of Impell Corporation and a Group President at Combustion Engineering, Inc.He has served on public, private, international, and non-profit boards of directors. His background includes extensive international experience with major clients in Canada, England, France, Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea. He began his career as an officer in the US Navy Nuclear Submarine program and served on nuclear submarines in Hawaii.Ray earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with distinction) from the US Naval Academy and a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University (NRC Scholarship). He also attended the Stanford Executive Program at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. He has been licensed as a Professional Engineer in over 20 states. Ray was a member of the United States Naval Academy Alumni Association's President Circle. He currently serves as a Trustee of the USS Hornet Museum, and a Trustee for Futures Explored, which provides life skills and work-related training to adults with developmental disabilities.
