I took something of an “indirect” path to becoming a lawyer, because college initially did not agree with me. After one semester of college I started working construction, and discovered that I liked building things. I went from being a laborer, to becoming a carpenter, then a foreman, and finally a superintendent/project manager. Because construction can be a seasonal business I managed to find a lot of time to pursue my passions – skiing and sailing. As I became more proficient at these sports I began teaching them in my spare time, and was a ski instructor, sailing teacher, and even became a charter captain in the Bahamas for a while. Eventually I realized that my long-term prospects were better with an education and returned to complete my college degree at night school, while working as a carpenter during the day. An interesting undergraduate class led me to attend law school, and I loved it (it was also a lot easier than working construction).After law school I was fortunate to get hired by a large firm that appreciated my diverse background, and became a partner there before leaving to start a firm with Jim Daley and Dan Mohan. Over the last 20 years we have built Daley Mohan Groble into a firm of highly-skilled, client-focused attorneys. We have been fortunate to have our clients entrust with important and significant matters, and in return we have achieved excellent results for them. I now get to combine my love of building, with my passion for sailing. While building our firm, I remain heavily involved in youth sailing (thanks to my children), and continue to pursue my passion for excellence. The best part of being a lawyer is helping our clients solve their problems, and being able to use real-world experience to help with those solutions.
