Asylum was a creative agency owned by a global brand solutions company, specialising in pre-press for packaging to brand owners. A small team of passionate design folk based in Manchester, where we worked for an enviable list of clients including United Biscuits, The co-operative, Colgate and Akzo Nobel amongst others. My diverse role covered both operational and account management - from the safety of the building and solving every maintenance issue going, through to the ownership of our finance and p & l; the management of both the production and account teams. I also account directed my own clients, including Ginsters, R & R Ice Cream and Pets at Home, where I successfully partnered their Marketing and Supply Chain through the minefield of print, packaging and brand consistency.

Cereal Partners approached me to set up a department in order to manage all packaging change within their business. I hand picked my team and worked out the process to ensure both a very busy marketing department and external retailers could get their packaging on shelf. During my time at CP I learned a huge amount about manufacturing, the genuine effectiveness of collaboration amongst diverse teams and the mega-importance of communication. I also extended my understanding of the marketing mix, retail trade and the FMCG sector. Regarded as the resident print guru within the UK and European business; I headed up projects in innovation and successfully delivered timely packaging, great print quality and brand consistency on behalf of both Nestle and supermarket brands. I traveled extensively and worked with a great bunch of talents and good people.
