I do work in organizational learning and effectiveness, simulations and games for learning and research, action research and Action Science. I'm interested in how to facilitate learning in groups and workplaces.I teach or have taught the following courses: Supply Chain ManagementIntroduction to Leading and ManagingCritical Inquiry for Strategic AdvantageResearch Methods (Doctoral-level course)Management for Engineers and Scientists,Total Quality Management,Managerial Decision-making and Judgment, andManaging Engineering and TechnologyI'm currently working on an integrated hardware and software system (protected by USPTO patent numbers 7769705, 8069131, and 8898098 with additional patents pending) that helps teams work together more effectively. The system helps members improve their “team intelligence”, which can lead to successful innovation, effective decision-making, and team learning. I received a $500K plus grant to fund this work from the National Science Foundation.I am available for consulting and facilitation.Specialties: Conflict resolution, improving team dynamics, challenging and re-evaluating cultural norms, crafting change, innovative conversation, implementing quality and improvement initiatives.

In the Spring I would coach and mentor students as they engaged in an accelerated pilot of their expected dissertation topic. -

Assistant Professor - Engineering Management And Systems EngineeringMissouri University Of Science & Technology 2003 - 2010I taught courses in the Management of Technology area, mostly in hybrid (mixtures of on-campus and distance students) courses. My overall average for teaching evaluations was around 3.3 on 4.0 point scale. (The university average is around 3.0.) Full-time, working graduate students especially appreciated the skills they gained in my courses that helped them act effectively in their day to day work with others. I received five teaching awards and an NSF CAREER award grant for my research. I was also chosen by the Solar Car Team to be first an advisor (serving nearly three years), then as main advisor (serving for two more years). I also served on the Faculty Senate and in campus and departmental committees.

I became involved in IBM's implementation of TQM and Six Sigma and worked to foster improvements in organizational culture. My desire to improve my expertise in these areas eventually led me to return to school for advanced degrees. -
