I was a Black Dot Owner (strategic corporate initiative) in charge of improving year-on-year lead time and availability across all manufacturing sites in my division. I led a cross-functional team of materials managers, commercial product owners, and data analysts to achieve goals set by senior leadership. One deliverable was a specification for measuring lead time and availability.Prior to this project, I developed a dynamic inventory forecasting model for my division to replace the previous manual process. The model calculates an inventory target that changes based on monthly plant performance, enabling each plant to achieve an end-of-year divisional DIO improvement objective. In the course of my research I discovered that pursuing the original DIO objective could lead to massive swings in inventory targets, which would be difficult or impossible for plants to achieve. As a result of this finding, the division was able to refactor the DIO objective in a way that was less sensitive to demand/sales forecasts, allowing the company to improve DIO without subjecting plants to unreasonable inventory goals.Since joining RegalRexnord I've... - learned SAP supply chain data model - created graph database of the material component hierarchy to analyze lead time - automated inventory audits at one of the primary manufacturing sites, improving the accuracy while reducing the amount of sampling to only what is statistically justified - refactored 52-tab spreadsheet that required days of manual processes into 7-tab pivot table-based relational data model that runs automatically every month - normalized material classification system across three different manufacturing systems to give leadership an apples-to-apples view of each plant
