- Study antibody-dependent natural killer cell mediated cytotoxic responses to HIV infection.- Investigate the mechanisms that govern the efficiency of HIV cell-to-cell transfer amongst T-cell subsets.- Examine the contribution of cell-to-cell transmission in-vivo in Humanized mouse models.- Organized the establishment of a new department-wide shared facility.- Conduct 3 independent projects and am involved in 2 collaborative efforts.- Directly mentored 4 graduate students with their projects.- Developed 5 novel assays to study the transfer of HIV amongst T-cells.

- Characterized a novel secreted factor, ps20, which promotes HIV-1 replication in memory CD4+ T-cells- Developed small peptides that mimic ps20 function and characterized novel antibodies against ps20 for therapeutic intervention- Worked with King's College Enterprises to file two patent applications for my work.- Organized international collaborations with several laboratories.- Trained and mentored 10 research students.

- Searched for apoptotic signals in the parasite Leishmania Donovani.- Developed a visual expression assay for transfecting genes into Leishmania.- Cloned two novel genes that are differentially expressed in the parasite's life cycle.- Presented research findings to the deputy director of the FDA.

- Studied chemokine receptor mediated inhibition of HIV-1 infection.- Examined the colocalization of chemokine receptors within lipid rafts.- Examined the modulation dendritic cell activation in the presence of different modulators (i.e. cytokines, chemokines and DNA), in order to boost the immune response to HIV vaccines.- Reviewed protocols for drug approval.
