Software Engineer in the Human Language Technology group supporting distributed systems development.

Serve as team lead on mission critical Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP), and Border Prosecution Initiative (BPS) systems. Lead the design, development, and deployment of system enhancements, and coordinate helpdesk activities in support of the deployed system. Meet with customer to establish requirements. Develop project schedules, and track progress to ensure that deliverables are completed according to the schedule. Develop technical approach and detailed design, contribute to implementation, and coordinate team activities. Establish project processes and mentor team members.

Contributed to the development on multiple applied research efforts and deployed systems for DARPA, Army, and Intelligence Community programs. Responsible for all phases of the software lifecycle with a focus on enterprise-level Java and .Net based solutions incorporating n-tiered, distributed, and agent-based architectures. Directly involved in requirements specification, and design using OOD/A, UML, and design patterns. Implemented designs, tested and integrated components, and supported system delivery. Defined, setup, and maintained team build environments, and established development processes. Instituted Agile Programming practices on several projects including incorporation of test, integration, analysis, and reporting tools into automated build environments. Served as technical lead on small projects where additional responsibilities included planning and tracking developer tasks, and coordinating internal team activities with external contractors.

Designed, implemented, and tested extensions to a Java based military planning system. Performed knowledge capture and implementation of Maneuver, Logistics, and Intel activity models used in planning. Integrated tool with several DARPA, ARL, and BCBL programs. Defined an XML framework for communication between disparate systems, coordinating with developers from universities and other government agencies to support framework implementation.

Designed and produced object model diagrams for a keyword-in-context indexer (KWIC) component within SCOUT, an Internet search engine. Implemented component, performed unit testing, and integrated within SCOUT.
