Duties included data collection, forecasting of missing data, researching various databases, noting industry trends, and the calculation of data-specific figures for statistical tables, reports, and publications. Create data-specific production and consumption tables for monthly quarterly and annual surveys used by state agencies, Congress, and various corporations. Publications including state list, Mineral Community Summaries, and the Mineral Yearbook. Serve as the primary contact of written and oral information for survey respondents. Forecasting techniques have increased the accuracy of data surveys. Provide written documentation of my commodity surveys. Interact with commodity specialists, management, computer specialists, editors, mining executives, and administrative specialists. Serve periodically as acting supervisor to a group of 6 employees. Collateral Duties:As part of a shadow detail with the Communications Department, researched internal and external websites for links in redesigning the US Geological Survey Weather Hazards Website used by the agencies scientists and chiefs along with members of the media. Weather hazards topics include earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, floods, wildfire, and landslides. Gave feedback to members of the Weather Hazards team; a group that included members of the US Geological Survey’s Communications Department. Created internal website links for a Lotus Quick Place site for the Storm Response Team; a group established to make sure response and recovery efforts were consistent. Show less
