I have over twenty-five years of experience in the field of Corrections and mid-level management. I am eligible to retire from my state position and am interested in continuing my career in government service in the field of administration and management. I currently carry the rank of Sergeant with the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. I handle the custody and security of adult male offenders of various security levels while incarcerated. I have served on the Intelligence Team and was named Officer of the Year in 2002. Over the course of two-and-a-half decades, I have filled every post at the facility, from being responsible for housing units, yard security, "relief and escort", and hospital escort trips, and have directly supervised up to thirteen officers at a time in addition to the custody and care of thousands of inmates.I was appointed to a management role under the Facility Administrator managing the Maryland Correctional Training Center - HED/EHU Pre-Release Facility in Western Maryland.My responsibilities included the procurement of state vehicles and facility supplies, coordinating all building, grounds, and vehicle maintenance, daily coordination with local municipalities for state work crews, and submitting daily facility reports to DPSCS Headquarters. As the Assistant to the Institutional Fleet Coordinator, I assisted at accident scenes involving state vehicles and coordinated the general care and maintenance of state vehicles assigned to our facility. I have completed training courses to be certified to teach at our academy and have certifications through FEMA for IS-00700.a and IS-00100.a. I have received multiple letters of commendation, regularly receiving a rating of "Exceeds" during annual performance appraisals. I have been trained in the use of firearms and less-than-lethal methods of control.
