About Raymond Mccauley
*Not interested in services and out-sourcing. Please don't contact me to sell me stuff. When I was 6, I built a lab in my garage to figure out how ants work, build rockets, store the pieces of expensive electronics that I’d disassembled (read: hide them from dad), and figure out which parts of my chemistry set it was safe to feed to my sister. Not much has really changed since then. I work in biotechnology, especially genomics and bioinformatics. I was on the team that developed and introduced next generation DNA sequencing, co-founded the world’s first biohackerspace, and have founded or been an early team member of 7 companies.Other jobs have included demolition, lifeguard, cinema projectionist, computer repair guy, closed ecosystem developer, systems analyst, and executive producer for PBS. These days, I work with small companies, large companies, and governments, to refine strategy around digital biology, build and run teams, find partners, and develop products. Current focus is on personal genomics, genetic engineering, agriculture, microbiomics, advanced materials, sensors, educational technology, and democratizing access to advanced tools. Academic background in computer science, electrical engineering, biochemistry, biophysics, bioinformatics, nanotechnology, cancer biology, including graduate studies at Texas A&M University, University of Texas, Stanford University, UC Berkeley. (Yeah, I’ve got no idea what football team to root for).I’ve had the great luck to work with amazing teams and individuals. Most of them would work with me again, some of them eagerly, and that’s my greatest professional accomplishment.
Listed skills include Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Genomics, Start Ups, and 46 others.

Chair Digital Biology, Founding Faculty
Singularity University was a think tank, incubator, graduate program, change agent, and the place to go find out about big ideas. We explored the effects of exponential technologies in week-long executive programs and a three month graduate student program that brings together some of the most agile thinkers from all over the world. I've been privileged to be a member of the faculty and chair the Digital Biology (formerly Biotechnology and Bioinformatics) department.
