About Ray Olsen

9 years ago, I took a trip to New York with friends to see Wicked on Broadway. It was the first time I had been to the city since I was a child, and although my brother had moved there years prior and was encouraging me to do the same, I never gave it much thought. However, that night changed something in me: the bright lights, the people, the art, the life! The sheer energy of it all spoke to me in a way that my hometown in Rhode Island never could (I’m aware that this is very cliche). By the following February I was in Brooklyn, sleeping on my brother’s couch, trying to understand why someone would double park next to me and whether I can do anything about it (nope), and whether it was the 2 or the 3 train that would get me to Queens (it was neither). I’m very handy, so I signed up for TaskRabbit and started doing TV, shelving and art installations all over the city. After 6 months one of my clients, Common, offered me a full time role as a Design Project Coordinator. They liked my eye for design and unrelenting work ethic. After a year of design and project management, I was promoted to Procurement and Installation Manager, where I worked with the Design, Construction, and Operations teams to streamline our supply chain and implement a robust procure-to-pay system.From there, I was recruited to work for Domio, a short term rental and hotel operator, to lead their procurement team and build out their supply chain functions from the ground up. Similarly, I worked closely with the Operations, Finance, Construction, Real Estate and Design teams to ensure all of our projects were on time and under budget. At Soho House, I managed the FF&E procurement for their stellar design team. I worked with internal and external team members to design, source and deliver a wide variety of unique furniture, lighting, finishes and accessories for all new builds across the US.In 2022, I moved to LogicSource, where I worked with some of the most recognizable brands in retail, healthcare, and hospitality; providing them with the expertise they need to source, purchase and deliver FF&E and management services for their facilities.Now I’m at TikTok, working on strategic initiatives to streamline our physical security partnerships in the Americas.
