Joined the AIPLA Fellows at the Annual meeting in October 2017. I previously served as the Chair of the Professionalism & Ethics Committee, the Emerging Technologies Committee, and the Latin American Committee of the AIPLA. In connection with my Fellows duties, I joined the AIPLA Membership Committee in 2018 to explore the current issues involving membership in the organization, and strategies for overcoming the increasing withdrawal of professionals from memberships. In 2020, I have also been asked to join the Harmonization Committee.

As the Greater Washington, DC Chapter Chair for the Licensing Executives Society (www.les.org) I promote the principles of the LES and provide a venue for the members to both network and hear interesting speeches from a variety of professionals in intellectual property, licensing, damages, valuation, tech transfer, and other topics. The Greater DC Chapter has meetings in Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland. The Society and the DC Chapter welcome new members. Founded in 1935, the PLCW is one of the oldest bar-related social organizations in the Washington, DC area. Prominent dinner speakers include Federal Circuit judges, PTO commissioners and officials, patent practice experts, and attorneys representing parties in high-profile court cases. Previous speakers have included Nicholas Godici, when he was Commissioner for Patents; CAFC judge Pauline Newman; Retired CAFC Chief Judge Paul R. Michel; Robert Stoll, Commissioner for Patents; Robert Bahr, and in early 2016 Retired CAFC Chief Judge Randall Rader, Deputy Commissioner for Patent Examination Policy; membership is restricted to registered patent practitioners; with a diverse group of patent attorneys from private practice, industry, and government, the PLCW is the organization for interesting events.

The Intellectual Property Section for the Bar Association of Montgomery County, Maryland has meetings on IP for the regional members of the Association and others with an interest in IP. I am pleased to give a series of CLE-credit presentations on the basics of IP, including patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret and antitrust, for the Association members, as well as non-lawyers. Technology, Intellectual Property and International practitioner in Washington, DC. On behalf of the firm, I was a lecturer on US IP and trade laws at Peking University Law School and at Tsinghua University in Beijing. Also, with Judge Paul Luckern of the U.S. International Trade Commission, toured China giving talks on IP and 337 Actions, which are trade actions based on intellectual property, in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Xian, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Xian and other cities. Also, Lecturer on IP and Licensing for nanotechnology and other emerging technologies at the University of Strausbourg, France for the Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA), Centre d’Etudes Internationales de la Propriete Industrielle (CEIPI), and the European Intellectual Property Institutes Network.
