I work with a scholarship organization that is dedicated to promoting the success of first generation college students in Arizona. I coordinate scholarship events, present to high schools across the state, maintain records, mentor students, and communicate with various stakeholders.

In collaboration with coalition partners leading the #Food4All and #Health4All campaigns in California, my research focuses on contextualizing immigrant food security within the six dimensions of food security framework. As part of this, I design surveys and conduct interviews with immigrant households and immigrants' rights organizations.

I worked on the development of a codebook on worldwide ethnic disparities to assess the social status of different groups in low- and middle-income countries around the world to understand how different forms of discrimination affect health outcomes. Served as a lab liaison for newer lab members to provide additional guidance on lab activities and assignments; Peer editor for code write-ups; create and deliver presentations on topics related to lab writing assignments and citation tools. The goal of this fellowship is to work with the media, my community, and policymakers to advocate for solutions that will bring an end to poverty in the U.S. and globally, including those that improve access to education, health and economic opportunity.

I collaborated with a local organization with the goal of increasing food access across the Flagstaff community. I designed marketing material to increase the awareness and use of Double Up Food Bucks by SNAP recipients and established partnerships with other businesses and organizations to disperse these materials to their audiences.

The purpose of this internship was to learn the fundamentals of lab research and understand the health disparities prevalent in the indigenous Maori population. Specifically, my research compared the protein modification of myosin light chain II between diabetic and non diabetic heart tissue samples using the western blot method. I then presented my findings at NAU's undergraduate research symposium.
