During my works at FETP I did field epidemiology research and investigation. The field are very diverse ranging from non-communicable disease (NCD) such as injuries, environmental and occupational diseases to communicable diseases such as dengue fever, diphtheria, etc. and gives recommendations to the management level of ministry of public health.I realize that reliable data are necessary to formulate a correct analysis, which can then become a successful policy. Better data leads to more effective results. A weak final analysis lacks the power to convince politicians of the need for support, in terms of funding and authority. Without authority and funding, an intervention policy lacks the power to control the outbreak.The solution for poor analysis is a more effective and user-friendly data reporting system. I strongly desire to improve the data system to lessen the workload on data users and collectors. A better data system will lead to a more effective outbreak control policy that can be applied to the population at risk precisely and quickly enough to control an outbreak. Moreover, my work can relieve other researchers from spending their time on data cleaning. Improvement of the data system can facilitate public health research and produce more effective intervention policies. Its benefits are promising and myriad.Having both a medical degree and epidemiologist certification, I know the habits of both data-input (as a physician) and data-output and use (as an epidemiologist). I am aware that, to achieve my goal, I now need to gain knowledge of data systems, design, and public health implementation. I need both experience and course work to guide me through gaining this essential skill its public health implementation.That is why I am pursuing a degree in Health Informatics to improve the national health surveillance system in my country, Thailand.
