After 3 years at Mersive managing my own environment, it feels good to put the consultant hat back on, where every project is an adventure. At Mersive, I have had the opportunity to continue my focus on GCP while solving many challenging problems to help the company continue to offer a reliable service to their customers. During my time there, I was able to shave their cloud spend in half while providing a more resilient backend architecture. I’ve worked with some truly talented developers, and together we’ve built a solid platform for managing IoT devices. I’ve been able to hone my skills in Kubernetes, Terraform, Github Actions, and all things IaC. We’re leaning into GCP’s serverless computing, which has sped up development time considerably and will continue to show savings on our GCP bill. I am proud that we were able to attain SOC2 and ISO27001 certifications with very few changes to the existing processes used to manage infrastructure and deploy code.

My focus at Agosto has been cloud architecture, app dev and DevOps on GCP. I worked closely with both internal and customer development teams on many dev and infrastructure projects through the whole SDLC process. Some of the things I have done: • Designed, built and deployed an application for translating documentation, which Pythianpromotes as a success story: https://www.pythian.com/customer-success-stories/qad-achieves-savings-with-google-translate-api-and-machine-learning • Helped stand up Agosto’s GCP reseller practice where I developed a customer onboarding process and tools for extracting and reporting detailed GCP monthly expenses. • Estimated time and cost for internal and external development projects. • Created scalable cloud-native app architectures. • Implemented CICD pipelines for software and cloud infrastructure projects using tools such as Terraform, Google Cloud Build, Jenkins, Docker, K8s, etc. • Created custom utilities and scripts (mostly in Python) that utilize API clients to integrate with GCP and other platforms. • Managed Jira servers and Cloud SQL instances. • Worked with most GCP services to develop applications in IoT, data migration, ML and others. • Represented Agosto at industry conferences such as Google Cloud Next.

Over the years I have provided freelance consulting services through my personal company, Mobile Cadence.Some customers/projects:• BackbookMigrated a Ruby on Rails application from Heroku to Kubernetes running on GKE and Cloud SQL. Created a developer environment and test/stage/production deploy process based on customer’s requirements.• AgostoAt Agosto, I evaluated potential new product offerings in the early stages. These products include Skykit CSG and a fully managed Google Compute Engine offering. I also designed and set up many of their customer’s GCE environments. I eventually ended up working for Agosto as a full time employee.• VocabraVocabra provided voice-enabled call management systems for customer care applications. I built and managed their infrastructure on AWS.• Directives by DesignDbD was a startup that I helped develop and deploy a product for health care directive planning. Their product has been licensed to major health care providers such as Allina.

At Digital Cyclone (and then Garmin), I did just about everything. I was a Linux / Unix admin, DBA, developer, product manager. Digital Cyclone was almost a casualty of the Dot-com bubble, but we kept it on life support (we were down to 4 people at one point). We clawed our way back and Garmin eventually bought us. I was managing our QA team at the time I left Garmin. Some of my activities included: • Built and managed a Linux server farm that produced regional weather forecasts using the MM5 model • Created and maintained the CI process (with Jenkins) for building iOS and Android applications such as My-Cast Weather and Garmin Pilot • Managed app servers (Linux, Solaris + Apache / Tomcat) and Postgres servers • Evaluated and implemented automated testing, bug tracking and app analytics platforms • Designed procedures and built systems for release and tracking of many wireless applications across multiple distribution channels and wireless carriers • Collaborated with wireless carrier (AT&T) to design and implement systems for tracking user subscriptions and sales of downloadable mobile applications • Strategized with BD on various product concepts and designs • Represented the company at aviation and other industry trade shows • Managed the QA, testing and customer service teams at Digital Cyclone

I was the first technical hire at Rapid Application Deployment. As a technical consultant, I performed Linux and Windows system administration along with IP network administration, configuring various software and hardware firewalls and routers. I also worked with Oracle, and did light application development.

Did all manner of network design and system administration for one of the early ISP's in the Twin Cities.
