Software Support Engineer

Chalk River, Ontario, Ca

Maintained, revised and updated the data acquisition software, written using LabVIEW for the Real-Time High Temperature Fuel Channel (HTFC) test system. Refactored the existing program from using Shared Variables to direct data sampling via DAQmx in order to obtain real-time measurements of over 1000 thermocouples at a rate of 100 samples per second for every analog and digital signals in the test system. Data Acquisition daemons were created to continuously read the DAQmx devices and the data was displayed only when requested by the operator. The application UI allows the operator to select and group channels of interest and to control the environment via LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control Module (DSC). Implemented Rendez-Vous to synchronize the high speed data acquisition; which ensured that each group of sensors completed before the next read cycle controlled by a Semaphore. The application also plays back the acquired data within the same windows that display the data during the acquisition.

The automated software communicates with an Oracle database to read the UI configuration data and to store captured measurements. The software offered real-time analysis of sound measurements.

Feb 2016 - Mar 2018

Software Engineer

Worked on software applications to monitor trends to predict Parkinson's and other neurodegenerative diseases. The system monitored signals from multiple sensor located on the hand and head of a person while the same was writing or drawing specific patterns on a tablet. The application was written using LabVIEW Object-Oriented and stored all data using Technical Data Management Solution (TDMS). The application analyzed the collected data in real-time to automatically identify areas of interest between the pattern on the tablet and signals measured from the sensors.Implemented a data playback application that allowed to scroll through the data waveform and to manually add a "tick mark" to timestamp of interest which aligned with a potential data event from the tablet. The application allowed to zoom in and out of areas of interest. Proposed using appropriate transforms or digital filtering.

Nov 2013 - Sep 2016

Software Architect

Modis/Ems-Honeywell (Kanata)

Architecture LabVIEW software using Drawbridge FlexShell to run Engineering Design and Qualification tests of satellite communication system for commercial aviation. The software application communicates with functions in Embedded Linux and interacts with the U-Boot, kernel, and bash scripts via FTP, SSH, and telnet. Remote control of the Modem Manager was done via VirtualBox. FlexShell allowed to create a custom script-like language which controlled the test flow based on measured results and pre-programmed expectations and/or set points. It would communicate with test instruments, such as a thermal chamber to determine its state before taking a course of action, such as starting or continuing a set of measurements; or, to poll for a trigger from one or more instruments. Daemon support allowed for concurrent execution of independent functions. Port part of the EMS Satcom spurious emissions Testbench functionality to an automated long-term qualification testing application. The software design and development of the User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) morphs the display in such a manner that the application was used for Engineering Functional testing, Qualification testing, and Production tests while the unit under test operated in a thermal chamber and on a vibration platform. The automated test software verifies all Radio Frequency parameters, communication protocols, discrete inputs and outputs, memory devices, Ethernet switches and server to server communication. The software application is capable of testing standalone modules as well as the entire functional system. Qualification Testing continuous duration extends to multiple weeks and months. The application was used to control the system and carry out Electro Magnetic Compatibility measurements. Production tests included power consumption and transmit / receive performance measurements.Protocols: ARINC-429, ARINC-717, ARINC-791, SATA Interface, RS-422, SSH,

Aug 2012 - Sep 2013

Automation Software Architect

Dallas, Texas, Us

Took the recently developed wireframe from Drawbridge that evolved to become FlexShell which used the power of LabVIEW Object-Oriented with sub-panels to create a UI/UX front end that morphed into the final GUI based on user selections. The software allowed mixing and matching antennas, transmitters, receivers and modems in multiple configurations that included single and dual transmitters and receives and a combination of the two. The software draws the configuration on the GUI as the operator selects each system component. The power behind FlexShell is the TestEngine which includes its own scripting language allowing the software to run long term verification tests that would execute uninterrupted for days and weeks. Another advantage from FlexShell is that the test script can be altered without having to recompile the overall software; thus allowing the customer to prepare their own tests. The automation software, in this application, tests RF products and to carry out various supported tests as selected by the test operator. Synchronization in the software using Rendez-Vous and Semaphore allowed the modems to lookup initial attenuation settings and meet at pre-determined state before proceeding with the tests.
