I retired at the end of 2016.While working at RWDI, I enjoyed being an engineering consultant providing technical direction and leadership involving the science of high performance buildings. This includes integrated design issues with: ventilation, energy, comfort, air pollution, fire safety, and wind engineering over last 25 years. I have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and was a member of ASHRAE and NFPA. I frequently have made technical presentations at conferences and society meetings, for organizations like ASHRAE, GreenBuild, NESEA, BSA/SCUP, Design Futures Council Summit on Sustainability and I2SL/Labs21.RETIREMENT NOTICE >>>>>>>> 25 years have flown by at RWDI….and now on October 28, 2016 I will retire. It has been a spectacular adventure being part of a special firm of talented people doing cool things. In my time we have grown from 65 people in one location in Guelph Ontario to approximately 500 people in many locations around the world. The growth has included a substantial expansion of our services supporting architects and engineers in the design of buildings and structures, as well as interesting aspects of climate and environmental topics.Over these many years I have enjoyed working on a wide variety of projects and challenging design topics. It is wonderful to have had the privilege to contribute in some small way to the success of our clients and to develop a long term relationships with them.Please continue to feel welcome to contact my RWDI colleagues any time to support your future pursuits and projects. I know they will want to help.There are many aspects of what I do at RWDI that I’ll miss in retirement but perhaps more than anything it will be meeting with design teams face to face and the stimulation of collaborating to achieve excellence in design.Going forward, I plan to spend more time with family and friends and also community outreach.All the best,Ray.
