I am Ray McKinnon, a dedicated and passionate individual with a diverse background in faith, progressive policy, and housing. With over two decades of experience, I have worked at the intersections of these areas in urban, rural, and suburban communities. Born and raised in Greensboro, NC, I have always been deeply connected to the needs and aspirations of my community.As the Chair of INLIVIAN's Board of Commissioners and the pastor of Sacred Souls Community UCC, I bring a unique blend of leadership, advocacy, and compassion to my work. My role as Chair allows me to advocate for housing access and equity, ensuring that every individual has a safe and affordable home. At Sacred Souls Community UCC, we provide a welcoming and inclusive spiritual home for LGBTQ+ communities, reflecting my commitment to social justice and equality.My journey in community service began in my own family, where I witnessed the transformative power of social safety nets and the importance of economic mobility. This personal experience has fueled my dedication to ensuring that the safety nets that helped me are available to others, allowing them to achieve economic stability and upward mobility. I firmly believe that a fair and just society is built on the principles of housing access, fair wages, and equal treatment under the law.In my various roles, I have honed my skills in team leadership, strategic planning, public speaking, and nonprofit management. I am adept at bridging seemingly disparate groups of people and ideas, challenging the status quo, and driving positive change. I am driven by a deep sense of purpose and a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and communities.Outside of my professional endeavors, I am a proud father of four sons, and I cherish the time spent with them. Northwest Charlotte is where I call home, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the betterment of this vibrant community.I am passionate about creating a more equitable society, and I am committed to utilizing my skills and experiences to advocate for housing access and social justice.
