Joined the Navy in July 1991 and commissioned as a Naval Officer in 1992. Served several tours on board various naval ships till May 2000. Completed my diving course with the Naval Diving Unit in 1995, a U.S. diving course in 1998 and also a disaster preparedness course in the U.S. in 2001. Last appointment before leaving the Navy was Head Operations Section, HQ Naval Diving Unit, responsible for the planning, control and monitoring of various operations undertaken by NDU. Serving in NDU provided me with excellent opportunities to plan, organise, lead and carry out operations such the dragon boat search and recovery operation in Cambodia in 2007, assisting the Indonesian authorities in the Adam Air crash search and recovery operation in 2007; and also being part of the organising committee in non-operational events such as the Singapore Biathlon.Years in the Navy have provided skills in planning and organising, managing individuals and teams.
