Ray Whitehead was the senior executive responsible for the management of business development operations, marketing and communications, technology strategy and assessment, industry relations and alliances, strategic planning and competitive analysis, and business growth through mergers and acquisitions.Previously, Mr. Whitehead was vice president of business development and communications for General Dynamics Network Systems in Needham, Massachusetts, which was combined with Anteon International in 2006 to form General Dynamics Information Technology. In that capacity he led the development of automated sales support systems, managed the public affairs and communications functions of the company and developed strategies that led to the acquisition of four information technology services companies.Before joining General Dynamics, Mr. Whitehead served in the U.S. Army where he completed a career as an armor officer, serving in a variety of operational and public affairs positions worldwide. He led armor units based in Germany, South Korea and the continental United States. He was the editor-in-chief of Soldiers Magazine, the Army’s monthly feature magazine distributed to more than one million readers. He also served as an Army spokesperson at the Pentagon, where he provided communications support and media relations for operations in Haiti, Rwanda, Kuwait and Bosnia.He gained extensive marketing experience with The Reader’s Digest Association, Inc., where he participated in the Army’s Training with Industry Program before assuming responsibility for the Army Recruiting direct marketing program.Mr. Whitehead holds a bachelor’s degree in history from The University of Tennessee and a master’s degree in business from Webster University.
