I have more than 40 years experience in a wide-ranging career at different times as a researcher, academic, planner, consultant, adviser, manager, executive, business owner, author, commentator, entrepreneur and futurist and I have worked in private enterprise and for government, Parliament, industry bodies, NGOs and educational institutions. I have substantial expertise in ecology, sustainability, climate change science and the effects of climate change on Australia and the world. I am an authoritative commentator and respected adviser on sustainability across all sectors including the built environment, cleantech, energy infrastructure, industrials, manufacturing, resources, transport, and water.My current research interests include adoption rates and convergence of technology, disruptive tech including solar and storage, electric cars, mobility, and robotics, and the communities that rely on them, and the impact of social media on markets.I was conferred the title Adjunct Professor in 2009 in recognition of my contribution to the University of Western Australia. I have been recognised internationally as: - Top 100 Global Leader in Sustainability by Singapore-based ABC Carbon (since 2011) - Top 100 Global Influencers in Social Media on climate change and energy by UK-based SustMeme Magazine (since 2014) - Top 100 Influencers and Brands for Renewable Energy in the world (2016), and separately in the World Top 100 Influencers and Brands for Climate Action (2017) by analytics firm Onalytica.In November 2012 I was privileged to be asked by the Australian Government to represent Australia and lead a Science Diplomacy mission to the African nations of Ghana, Kenya and South Africa. I commonly deliver invited addresses to diverse conferences such as the Singapore Carbon Market and Investor Forum, the Kimberley Pilbara Cattlemens Association, the World Green Building Council Conference and the World Renewable Energy Congress, the Annual Global CSR Summit, and the Renewable Cities' Global Learning Forum.
