About Prof Ray Wills

I have more than 40 years experience in a wide-ranging career at different times as a researcher, academic, planner, consultant, adviser, manager, executive, business owner, author, commentator, entrepreneur and futurist and I have worked in private enterprise and for government, Parliament, industry bodies, NGOs and educational institutions. I have substantial expertise in ecology, sustainability, climate change science and the effects of climate change on Australia and the world. I am an authoritative commentator and respected adviser on sustainability across all sectors including the built environment, cleantech, energy infrastructure, industrials, manufacturing, resources, transport, and water.My current research interests include adoption rates and convergence of technology, disruptive tech including solar and storage, electric cars, mobility, and robotics, and the communities that rely on them, and the impact of social media on markets.I was conferred the title Adjunct Professor in 2009 in recognition of my contribution to the University of Western Australia. By invitation of the Vice Chancellor in 2009, I joined the Vice Chancellor's Sustainability Committee, and provide advice to the University on sustainability, and also expert commentary on climate change and sustainability to the media on behalf of UWA.I contribute to the scientific peer review process, and was recognised as an Outstanding Reviewer by Elsevier in May 2015 for being in the top 10th percentile of reviewers for the Journal Energy Policy, and have completed more than 50 manuscript reviews in the last 4 years.

I was one of the key architects of the development of the first business plan for the ESA, a document which began development in 1999 and first implemented in July 2002.
