Engine Performance Engineer
Current• Conducted project specific validation testing consisting of frictional analysis, fuel consumption, oil characteris-tics, soot analysis, injector studies, ECU remapping, and performance torque changes.• Derived new automation tests and data processing procedures to adapt to new technology and industry demands.o Developed automated AVL PUMA/BOBCAT tests to reduced test time by 50%, and produced highly re-peatable data. My test procedures were adopted in Japan as a result of repeatability and consistency.• Setup test plans and configured test cells to accommodate specific validation needs for all North American R&D o Commissioned sub-zero test cell, first time Honda conducted sub-zero testing in North America.o Test planning entailed the allocation of resources, integrating engine hardware components, data acquisi-tion instrumentation, ECU calibration, facility software configuration, and assembling engines.• Utilized Concerto to code MBT ECU map interpolator, yielding detailed bench ECU calibration maps.• Developed flow bench test procedures producing accuracy within +/-1 LPS and repeatability comparable to what was being collected in Japan.o Enabling Honda R&D America to run consistent global correlation of data with Japan.• Mastered validation requirements necessary for hardware and software verification • Streamlined existing FTR to direct the testing and development in a clearer and more linear fashion• Setup and operated an AVL engine dynamometer test cell utilizing PUMA/BOBCAT, CAMEO, INCA, ATI, INDI-COM, Concerto, INDISMART, and Honda specific programso Debugged necessary equipment due to updates or cell to cell differentiation• Managed a technician to ensure my testing was completed on time. With my testing being primarily automated we were able to complete testing before deadlines allowing the next engineer additional cell setup time.
