YumDots was part of the YC Winter '08 class. We worked on a mobile app to easily visualize good restaurants around you based on ratings and price.One of the highlights of the experience was showing Evan Williams our progress after 2 weeks and seeing him seriously impressed. Unfortunately, my cofounder and I were incompatible partners and we stopped working on the company shortly after demo day. I learned some important lessons though, and I'm happy I went through the experience. I think it's important to start companies with people you've worked well with in the past, and you should NOT start a company just for the sake of starting a company - you should start a company because you feel deeply that your product/service needs to exist in the world and no one else is doing it right.
