My name is Razan Elkhatib. I am a Sudanese multidisciplinary artist, passionate about filmmaking, storytelling, and other types of visual arts. I moved to Montreal in 2019 and am currently working as an independent artist.I earned a Bachelor of Communication Science in Multimedia from Sudan University for Science and Technology. My graduation project in 2012 was my first short film, “Amal” written and directed by me, addressing the subject of female circumcision. Growing up, I developed my skills as a scriptwriter, production manager and director. I have written a handful of Sudanese commercials that successfully impacted the Sudanese advertising market and have also improved my way of brainstorming ideas and implementing them in various mediums.Also, I volunteered with different NGOs and activism groups in family health, FGM, persons with disabilities, environmental issues, peace and gender, which helped me better understand different social segments.I have been continuously seeking to grow my skills in film production after moving to Montreal. I recently finished a micro-degree in screenwriting and film production at the School of Cinema, Concordia University, which gave me a more extensive knowledge scale. Also, in 2021 I joined two classes in photography and videographer,y which made me more comfortable operating the camera. This year, I finished an internship programme with the Canadian Media Producers Association.As well as, I am at the peak of my curve of learning the French language, and now I have an intermediate level of speaking.I am motivated to work on cultural and developmental projects and interested in building good relations with local people in different communities.
