I'm not your average LinkedIn pro – I'm more like the person who avoided construction like the plague only to make it my career. It was just a way to make money until I could be lucky enough to support my family as a theoretical physicist. As I'm sure you already know, nobody wants to pay me to talk about black holes and speed of light theories. The few that might pay, already paid smarter people than me to explain it better than I could. I filed that career goal under "D" for "dumb idea". The “dumb ideas” file was, by far, my largest file in my 20s.One day, I realized . . . I was already doing what I loved. I was spending most of my time running the math and logic on different scenarios to determine likely outcomes . . . in construction. And I was correct a few more times than I was wrong. So people started to pay me for it, LOL.I was taken under the wing of the legendary Mike Cahoon who chipped away at my many rough edges over the decades. Most importantly, he taught me the 2 unwritten rules in the industry:1.)2.)One major thing I've learned is to always make sure I'm not the smartest guy in the room. That hasn't been hard for me. I've been humbled often. I've surrounded myself with the best in the industry I could find and they have always made me better.
