Electrical Project EngineerCambridge-Lee Llc Jan 2003 - Oct 2006· Redesigned 3 strand Continuous Caster Controls and programmed billet handling conveyor system for the refinery. This eliminated fork lift traffic and keeps precise track of all material from spinner blocks to finish line. This project increased production by 40%. Ran project and programmed new PLC controls for Copper extrusion press. This improved overall performance and repeatability more than 50%. Designed and programmed new controls for Continuous Casting machine. Lead team of electrical technicians. I used Allen-Bradley SLC 505's, RS View SCADA Systems, Panel View with Ethernet communications. The machine had been out of service for 2 years due to the fact that no one could get it to run with any consistency. After I was finished it now runs 7 days a weekproducing over 52 tons of copper billets a day. This was a 75% increase in productivity compared to when it was first commissioned in January of 2000. Design and implementation of Visual Basic control system for copper tubing purge systems. This was a SCADA type control system that improved control of the system by 40%. Electrical design of copper coil basket conveyor system; I used RS Control Logix 5000 and Panel View Plus for controls. This eliminated most of the fork lift traffic for moving baskets and increased production by 25% Designed control system layout for spin drawing machines using RS Logix 5000 and RS View32 Scada systems to increased tighter drive controls and 20% less waste. Redesigned controls for 2 strand copper continues-casting machine for refinery. I oversaw thedismantling for shipment to our Mexico Installation Of Copper Refinery Machines including Casters, Shaft Furnaces and Bag Houses Project Engineered the reinstallation of all controls and electrical for the Loma 2 strand Caster in Mexico.I trained maintenance personal and improved machine performance throughout our plants. Responsible for power distribution and control of phase shift analyzes and correction.

Electrical Project Engineer· Controls Used Dec 2001 - Dec 2002Electrical Panels and Controls High Point NC North Carolina · Engineered all projects, including design, programming, testing, and commissioning. · Programmed PLC logic and SCADA systems for waste water equipment to improve production by cleaning effluent levels by 50%, using step screens, automatic flumes, and Ethernet communications over fiber optics. · Programmed Pump Packs for receiving of waste water systems, this consists of multiple pumps and drives that use a lead drive for normal flow level. If the system increases beyond the capacity of that drive and pump, one of the lag drives energizes to bring down the level to set point using a PIDloop to control the Process variables. The drives alternate between lead and lag ever 24 hours. This saves wear and tear on pumps and drive system. · Engineered servo controls for robotic cutting tools that use self teach modes. The PLCs controls use high-speed servo control cards, the improvement in production over CNC is at least 35% · Engineered pump pack for influent station using pc controls running Think and Do software. This is PC-based software that runs on a Win 2k or NT platform improving performance and scan time by 20ms per scan. It has been calculated that by using these controls, improvement in performance was increased by at least 30%.; with Magelis HMI; Automation Direct with EZ-Touch touch HMI. · Software used: RS Logic, RS View, Concepts, Pro Worx, Direct Soft, PL7, and Think and Do. · SCADA and HMI used: Wonder Ware, RS View, EZ-Touch, Panel View and Panel Mate. · Communications: Modbus, Modbus+, RS232, Data Highway +, and Ethernet

Electrical Project EngineerSchneider Automation Oct 2000 - Aug 2001· Integrated many systems to upgrade a bridge crane at the Memphis naval base. Used Ultivar DC drives, Modicon PLC programmed, with concepts to increase lifting capacity by 30%. It was a complete over haul of the system from top to bottom. Upgrades included DC Drives, motors, and a new operator's station atop the crane with several touch screens and over 10,000 I/O points. · Used 16 pulse transformers to smooth the harmonics of VFD drives on pump packs for sepetage and receiving stations this with input and output line reactors. This saved the companies 20% on power consumption, and reduced THD back to the main line. · Engineered and implemented an RTU system for the Washington-Tacoma area to monitor and control the flow and control of wastewater. This includes adding chlorine, polymers and other types of chemicals. The project was tied into a SCADA system that could be monitored from many locations. It was fully automated and save manpower and boosted efficiency in the. · Engineered an overhead crane system for Ford Motor Company in Detroit to improve performance of the stamping plant. The controls were PLC and HMI based and the improvement to production was at least 20% with a minimal of cost. · Commissioned engineers projects when their schedule interfered with the commissioning date. · Programming Software used; Concepts, Pro Worx and Modsoft. · Hardware used; Quantum, Momentum and Magelis, 2 way Ethernet modems and fiber optics. · Communication; Modbus, Modbus+, Ethernet, Fiber Optics, ASCI and Device Net. -
Electrical Project EngineerFreightliner Truck Assembly Mar 1999 - Oct 2000· Ran project replacing paint robots and booth using Fanuc Robotics and A-B PLC5 Enhanced with Control Net Communications and RSView32 SCADA systems. This increased production rate by 40% and eliminated 6 jobs. · Upgraded ABB Robotics in the Body Department and wrote code for all robotic motion. This increased production by 50% by eliminating 10 jobs. · Oversaw 8 robotic technicians for production.

Electrical Project EngineerGeneral Motors Truck Assembly Feb 1997 - Mar 1999· Programmed ABB robots to eliminate wasteful motion. Lead a 3 man team to increase production and reduced wear and tear on the robots and their components and reduced down time. Reprogrammed the conveyors to be more efficient by eliminating waiting times at each robot station. · Worked with other engineers on an overhead trolley system. The trolley system would carry truck bodies to and from the robotic staging area. There was a secondary staging area so if the operators wanted GMC truck styles, the Chevy trucks would be indexed and transferred to the secondary staging area until they were called for via a recipe program that programmed into the operator workstation. · Programmed Fanuc RJ200 Paint Robots to increase efficiency by eliminating wasted motion. · Software used; Allen-Bradley 6200, Allen-Bradley Panel View, Allen-Bradley 1336 Plus Drives, Siemens PLC software and Visual Basic. Hardware Used: Allen-Bradley PLC5-80, Allen-Bradley Panel View, Siemens PLC and Wonder ware. Communications; Data Highway+, Ethernet and Device Net.
