Razvan Andrei Popescu specialized in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology and Hematology in Switzerland and the UK, founded and is Medical Director of the Tumor Center Aarau and Head of Medical Oncology in Hirslanden Clinic in Aarau, Switzerland. His clinical interests include gastrointestinal, breast, gynecologic and urogenital cancers, supportive/palliative care and treatment of elderly cancer patients. He routinely applies PROMs and needs assessment in clinical practice.He contributed to design various clinical trials and participated in the first ASCO–AACR–FECS Workshop on Methods in Clinical Cancer Research in Flims. He co-founded the Flims Alumni Club, the interdisciplinary European association of young oncologists and researchers, was the FAC’s first Treasurer and its President 2003-2007.He organized symposia within ESMO, ESTRO, EACR and ECCO meetings and served as Deputy Director/Scientific Coordinator for the European School of Oncology (ESO) Masterclasses in Clinical Oncology from 2004 to 2020. He is part of ESO's core faculty in GI and Breast Cancer, Elderly, Supportive and Palliative Care, has served as visiting professor for ESO and is a Senior Faculty Member of the College of ESO (ESCO). He co-developed the Improving Outcomes and Leadership course of ESO, ECO and SPCC in 2022.Razvan Popescu is committed to improve the structure of oncology in Central and Eastern Europe and has published on hurdles to access cancer medicines there.
 He was a Coordinator of the ESO Eastern European and Balkan Program, initiated and chaired the first 3 Eastern European and Balkan Masterclasses in Clinical Oncology 2010-2013. He is a Visiting Professor in the University of Belgrade, Serbia.Dr. Razvan Popescu has served ESMO as Member of the Young Oncologists Committee 2003-2007, Member of the Fellowship and Awards Committee 2006-2010, Chair of Membership Committee and Member of ESMO Board of Directors 2008-2010. From 2010 to 2014 he chaired the joined ESMO National Representatives and Membership Committee and was a Member of the ESMO Executive Committee. He is lead author of the ESMO Position Paper on Medical Oncology published in 2014 and co-author of an ESMO Position Paper on personalized cancer medicine. He is a Fellow of ESMO since 2022.He was Member of the ASCO Educational Committee until 2022 and chaired the Global Health Educational Track for ASCO 2020. He served on ASCOs International Affairs Committee 2017-2020, is a Member of the ASCO Quality Training Program Steering Group since 2020 and regularly teaches in ASCO Quality Improvement Workshops.
