I have been a successful entrepreneur for the past 40 years and my experience is largely based in the beauty industry in owning, managing and operating salons in both the Boston MA area and Orange County CA. As an avid spa lover, I attended University of CA Irvine's Spa Management program to gain knowledge of the industry and to apply my skill set to the business of managing spas.The Red Cross organization has always interested me and in 2005 I took a First Responder course to become a Disaster Response Volunteer and have been deployed to disaster zones in the US during times of need. I am currently recovering from a lumbar fusion so this is put on hold until I'm medically cleared.Another passion of mine is being a healthcare advocate so I developed, managed and facilitated two successful peer to peer support groups with the help of Hoag hospital in Newport Beach, PainMatters and a chapter of the American Chronic Pain Association -ACPA- in an effort to address the need for those with chronic pain. We held meetings once a month in person at Hoag hospital and online with over 100 members until covid hit.My latest mission is to spread the word about RBD or REM Sleep Behavior Disorder, a serious neurological sleep disorder which millions of men over 60 have but are not aware of due to being misdiagnosed with sleep apnea (in the case of my husband) or restless leg syndrome. This condition can often be a precursor to Parkinsons and/or Lewy- body dementia, think Robin Williams and also Alan Alda who has publicly describe his experience with RBD. Rbdmatters.com is the vehicle I developed to help facilitate and discern information to those who have been diagnosed or have a loved one with the condition. We have been very lucky to have met and received help from top physicians and researchers from Stanford and pass on to others through RBDMatters.com. We owe a great deal to those people for their time and help with understanding the latest research of RBD with much more to come.
