Oversee and lead Business and Legal Affairs (BALA) for 2U's Alternative Credentials division, including "GetSmarter," 2U's executive education brand, "edX Boot Camps," 2U's career accelerating up-skilling brand, "edX," 2U's education marketplace, and our enterprise business, serving as the lead counsel and strategic business advisor for 2U executive leadership. Established Discovery Education's first legal team as a standalone company. Designed, staffed, and managed the team, implemented new corporate governance procedures, and ensured a successful and compliant separation from Discovery Communications.Additionally, oversaw the teams responsible for all order management and revenue contracting. Negotiated and drafted international licensing agreements, partnership agreements with Institutes of Higher Education and businesses (corporate education partnerships), and SaaS licensing agreements. AcademME used Labor Market Information (LMI) to connect learning to earning. Our goal was to dramatically improve how individuals explore career-enhancing education while simultaneously helping education providers cost-effectively recruit students into their programs. AcademME was a mission-driven solution to two related problems.As a member of our founding team, CEO and General Counsel, I wore multiple hats. I oversaw the business and legal affairs of our company, including fundraising.

Ensured GW's online education programs were compliant domestically and abroad. Managed the process for achieving online authorizations in each jurisdiction where required. Analyzed laws and regulations, established compliance procedures for online education across the university, monitored policies and drafted legislative responses on behalf of our programs, assisted in accreditation reviews, implemented State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement {SARA} procedures, conducted strategic market research for GW against the top 100 US universities to guide our program expansion, collaborated on GW's first-ever financial analysis of its online programs, and assisted in coordinating the first-ever meeting of top online education officials from domestic universities.

Successfully established an education-focused public policy consulting firm. Designed and implemented grassroots advocacy campaigns for clients, implemented government relations and issue campaigns for non-profits and trade associations, monitored bills and responded to them on behalf of clients, developed policy proposals for clients and assisted in successfully completing various government bids.
