As founder of Motion Spell, my role is to advocate for the use of open source software in commercial broadcast, video streaming, OTT and VR applications.In 2012 I founded GPAC Licensing, the commercial arm of the GPAC Multimedia Open Source Framework. GPAC is a powerful worldwide project, established in 1999 in NYC, dedicated to the development of rich-media, video encoding and broadcast technologies. GPAC Licensing is exclusively handled by Motion Spell. GPAC Licensing provides a business friendly licensing model that extends the commercial possibilities of the GPAC Open Source Software, helping people transport multimedia data in the right format. GPAC OSS is the reference standard for the MP4 file format and was chosen by industry leaders such as Youtube, Netflix, Sony, x264, Philips, Cisco, Ericsson, General Motors, Fox, and many others. Motion Spell also offers ready-made technology solutions such as SubStance (an over-the-top live subtitle inserter), Signals (a video processing framework to build broadcast quality products within days), or Abstract (a revolutionary compliance engine to analyze and certify your content).
